JO Flats are available only from Lakland although they are made for Lakland by GHS. 34' sets are for four string basses; 35' sets fit 35' scale basses. Price with shipping for 5-string sets is around $36 for 4-string sets, $45 for 5-string sets. Available in light or medium gauges.

Very even sound with a bit more high end than most flats. Lakland JO flats are more in line with the tension found on a stock set of rounds in the same gauge (.45-.128 for a 5-string set). I also like the fact that they're reasonably priced.

Uncertain availability from the Lakland site. I also think they 'go dead' faster than TI Flats, which I also use. On my latest set, the E and B seem to have a dull sound compared to the D and G. TIs are more even overall.

Very well made. No problems with durability.

If you're looking for an affordable flatwound string that has a bit more snap to it than many flatwounds, Lakland JO Flats could be for you. Available only through the Lakland website, they can be hard to find. WARNING: Lakland prints a warning on each package that JO Flats should be strung THROUGH THE BRIDGE ONLY on string-thru-body basses to eliminate the possibility that the winding may crack when it goes through the body grommet due to the extreme angle.
